In England, under the new legislative landscape of 2026, there is no fixed percentage cap on how much a private landlord can increase your rent. There is no statutory rule stating your landlord can only raise rent by 3%, 5%, 10%, or any other arbitrary figure. However, this does not mean a landlord has free rein to increase your rent to any amount they choose.
